STANDARD SEA SCOUT SHIP AWARD
The Standard Sea Scout Ship Award is designed to recognize the achievement of a national standard by Sea Scout Ships. A score sheet, found in the appendices section of the Sea Scout Manual, must be submitted to the council service center at the time of re-charter. Upon approval, the patch may be worn by ship members and leaders on the right sleeve of the uniform until the ship re-charters the following year.
Requirements
1. The Skipper must complete Venturing Leader Basic Training and Sea Scouting specialized training.2. The Ship must have at least one mate (21 years of age or older) who has completed Venturing Leader Basic Training and Sea Scouting specialized training.
3. The ship must re-charter on time.
4. The ship's elected petty officers must be trained by the skipper.
5. The Skipper and the ship's petty officers must hold a quarterdeck meeting at least 9 times during the year.
6. The ship must hold regular ship meetings at least twice a month for 9 months in the year.
7. The ship must conduct at least 1 monthly activity 9 months out the year.
8. The Ship must have at least one long cruise or super activity during the year.
9. The ship must include at least one meeting or activity based on each of venturing's six experience areas during the year (career, social, citizenship, service, outdoor, and fitness).
10. The ship must have a mobilization plan for emergency service.
11. The ship members must wear Sea Scout uniforms or some sort of ship identity (jacket, t-shirt, etc.).
12. At least 40 percent of the sea Scouts must advance one rank during the year (excluding Quartermasters). For ships not using the sea Scout Advancement Program, an alternative program featuring safe-boating training, scuba training, or other coarse may be substituted; at least 50 percent of ship members must complete the program.
13. The ship must participate in at least one council, area, regional, or national event during the year.
14. The ship must register with the same number or more members than the previous year's registration.
