Petty Officer Training
The ship's petty officers are the elected Sea Scout youth leaders, elected by the ship members. They all work with the Skipper and mates to give leadership to the ship. Soon after the election of Petty Officers the Skipper will hold training meetings for the newly elected petty officers to help them understand and execute the duties and resposibilities of each position.
The Petty Officer positions are Boatswain, Boatswain's Mate, Yeowman, Purser, and Crew Leader. Some ships will also have more than one Boatswain's mate, usually one for administration and one for program. They may also have a storekeeper.
